What are the requirements for a common collection point in heavily frequented places (such as, for instance, airports, railway stations, shopping centres/streets)?
There should be a reverse vending machine in the immediate vicinity of the sales point (within easy walking distance), meaning not more than about 300 metres away. In order for a reverse vending machine to be defined as a common collection point, a corresponding agreement must be concluded with the operator of this reverse vending machine. In addition, end consumers must be informed of the location of the reverse vending machine and the options for redeeming the deposit voucher.
A reverse vending machine located in a supermarket can also be defined as a common collection point if the supermarket operator is in agreement with this. The opening times of the supermarket do not have to be the same as those of the sales outlet, but regular opening hours must nevertheless be guaranteed.
