From what volume is it worthwhile investing in a reverse vending machine?

A reverse vending machine is only profitable and sensible from a certain number of containers.

Factors to consider before installing a reverse vending machine:

  • Location and the number of expected returns.
  • Effort involved for manual vs. automated returns.
  • Margin of error for manual returns (i.e. how many deposits are returned in error).
  • Storage capacity for full sacks (containers may not be crushed with manual returns and take up more space) and ability to secure them against theft.

The profitability of a reverse vending machine and the choice of a suitable model should be evaluated individually and we as EWP cannot make any recommendations. For terms and general information, we recommend contacting the respective manufacturers.
